Careers in Education for the New Woman
Skagen
1977
In case you haven’t noticed, the career books are slowly killing me. As an old woman of 49, I cannot imagine who this “New Woman” might be. Oh wait maybe I am the new woman since I was in HIGH SCHOOL when this was published. Okay, then the question is when does the NEW woman become an OLD woman?

That is a Tampax on the cover, right?

That would have been an awesome joke, but actually it was a left over sticker of some kind…
Probably the only thing holding that book together!

As a contemporary of yours, I give up – am I a new woman or an old one? The vibrant cover makes the careers choices all look so exciting …and what was the advice they gave? Did I know this when I decided to work in education? Or was it all grey?

New Woman = women’s libber, to the 1920s-30s (and apparently 70s) set.
